Volunteering
“May I never get too busy in my own affairs that I fail to respond to the needs of others with kindness and compassion.” -- Thomas Jefferson
“No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another. Thank you.” -- (Author unknown)
Ever since Camp CoBeAc was founded, an enthusiastic and committed group of volunteers has been a vital part of our heritage. After all, it was a hearty group of volunteers who drove in their antique cars or landed their airplanes on the makeshift airstrip each weekend to build a Bible Camp in northern Michigan. The names of these volunteers will forever be associated with the pioneering spirit of Christian camping and be a testimony of the willingness and dedication a good cause can have on a group of people we call volunteers.
In honor of the thousands of volunteers who have built and continue to build a better Camp CoBeAc, the road leading up to the main camp is called Clawhammer Road. In addition, our annual charity golf tournament held the second Tuesday in September, is named the Clawhammer Classic to remind Camp CoBeAc and all our camp guests the remarkable contributions volunteers have made assuring a quality, conservative Christian camp.
Volunteers are just as important today, as they help keep Camp CoBeAc in shape for thousands of guests who visit our facility. It is our volunteers who do those extra, sometimes seasonal chores, which could not be done without their efforts.
Is there a time when you or your church group can serve? We are always looking for people who can assist with trail clearing, landscaping, constructing a new building or remodeling an old office, assist in the office, paint, cook, cut wood, help with seasonal change-over duties, and a host of other chores. Every little bit of effort will help and every age group can have a special job assigned to them.
